How to apply foundation

Although foundation is a very commonly used cosmetic, not everyone can use and choose foundation correctly. Not many people can master the correct techniques of applying foundation. The techniques for applying foundation are not difficult. There are three main methods, namely: patting, pressing and applying. Below, I will introduce the procedures and techniques for applying foundation and the method of selecting the color of liquid foundation for your reference!

1. The procedure of applying foundation

First pour the foundation on the palm of your hand, then use the tips of your index, middle and ring fingers to evenly spread the foundation, and apply it on the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Starting from the forehead, use three fingers to gently apply foundation all over the forehead to the hairline. Then proceed downwards, first apply to the left or right side, evenly apply to the cheeks, including the eyes, and then apply to the nose, lips, chin and neck. The transition where the neck and face meet should be natural without leaving any traces.

2. How to apply foundation

One is to pat, that is, dip the foundation with the tip of your finger and gently pat it to make the foundation closely combine with the skin, increase its adhesion, and make it not easy to come off. This technique is less likely to show skin wrinkles and is also suitable for expressing local highlights and shadows.

The second method is pressing, which is to add a finger moving motion to the above-mentioned patting technique, spread the foundation evenly and blend it. It is suitable for gradual blending at the junction between the bright part and the base color.

The third method is to apply, that is, to rub back and forth on the skin surface. It is often used to rub all over the skin to modify the entire makeup and make the color more rounded, as shown in Figure (c). However, this method cannot be used at the beginning of makeup application, because the foundation applied in this way is not firm enough and is easy to come off. This technique is also suitable for applying thicker foundation more thinly, making it easier to apply light makeup on the contours of the face, around the eyes, etc.

If you are using liquid foundation, press your hands on your face after applying it. If fingerprints are left, it means the foundation is too thick. The right foundation should be smooth and not greasy.

3. How to choose the color of liquid foundation

Choose the color of liquid foundation: There are many colors of liquid foundation, so you need to choose a color that is close to your skin color or slightly whiter than your skin color. Most girls are suitable for ivory white, and people with fair skin can choose porcelain white.

Note: If you don’t choose the right color, it’s easy for the makeup to be too thick or too light.
