Some mothers like to wash their newborns' faces with their own breast milk after feeding them, believing that washing their newborns' faces frequently with breast milk can make their newborns' skin white and tender. In fact, this practice is harmful rather than beneficial to newborns.

Because breast milk is rich in protein, fat and sugar, these nutrients are also a good culture medium for bacterial growth and reproduction, providing conditions for bacterial growth. Moreover, the skin of newborns is delicate, rich in blood vessels, and has a thin stratum corneum and strong permeability, which creates favorable conditions for bacteria to enter the body through the pores, thus easily causing folliculitis and even purulent infection of the skin around the hair follicles.
