Do you know what eye opening is?

If you don’t love beauty, you probably don’t know what canthoplasty is. But for female friends who love beauty, canthoplasty should not be unfamiliar. Nowadays, female friends love beauty more and more, and plastic surgery can be done at any time. Canthoplasty is a simple operation. So what exactly is canthoplasty? Let’s learn about it together.

Canthoplasty is commonly known as canthoplasty. It is done through surgery to correct and enlarge the inner and outer canthi of the eyes, remove the epicanthus, and lengthen the horizontal length of the palpebral fissure to achieve the effect of enlarging the eyes.

Internal and external canthoplasty was first used to correct microphthalmia. Congenital microphthalmia often requires multiple surgeries because of its narrow palpebral fissure, severe epicanthus, and often combined with widened inner canthal distance and ptosis. At present, with the development of cosmetic medicine and the increasing demands of those who love beauty, canthoplasty is also used by normal people who pursue bigger eyes.

Indications for canthoplasty

1. Those with epicanthus.

2. Patients with congenital microphthalmia.

3. People who have small eyes and want to correct them through surgery.

Contraindications: 1. Patients with infections inside or outside the eyes should undergo surgery only after the inflammation is completely controlled.

2. People with severe liver, kidney, heart, or brain diseases, pregnant women, and patients with severe blood diseases should not undergo canthoplasty.

3. People with mental illness, psychological disorders or those who have excessively high or unrealistic demands should not undergo canthoplasty surgery.

4. People with obvious scarring should not undergo canthoplasty surgery.

5. People with protruding or sunken eyeballs or retracted eyelids, or those with high expectations for surgery, need to be cautious.

Canthoplasty surgery method

1. Epicanthoplasty

Epicanthoplasty is also called epicanthoplasty. There are many methods for clinical application. The more commonly used methods are: "VY" suture, "Z" shaping and four-flap method. The first two are suitable for mild epicanthus, and the latter is suitable for wider epicanthus. Regardless of the method, there will be a certain scar left at the incision after the operation, which will generally not be very obvious after 3 to 6 months.

2. Lateral canthoplasty

Lateral canthoplasty is a procedure that involves making an incision in the outer canthus of the eye to lengthen it horizontally. This is a surgery that involves cutting open the skin and mucous membrane at the outer canthus of the eye. Commonly used canthoplasty are Von Ammon canthoplasty and Fox canthoplasty. In addition, there is simple incision and suture, which is simple to operate, but is rarely used clinically because of the high risk of recurrence after surgery.
