With the arrival of summer, people will definitely go to the beach to take a shower! But the scorching sun will not let you go. If you forget to apply sunscreen, you will easily get sunburned. Severe cases will lead to peeling, heat stroke coma and even various dermatitis. What should you do if your skin is sunburned? Let’s take a look at the emergency treatment methods for sunburned skin.

If you use skin care products incorrectly after getting sunburned, it is very likely to quickly develop into contact dermatitis! When the skin shows early symptoms of sunburn such as redness, dryness and slight peeling, it is not suitable to use general cleaning products. When cleaning the skin, it is best to use weakly acidic cleaning products that match the pH value of the skin to avoid irritating the skin. However, if you don’t know how to choose cleaning products, the easiest way is to use baby soap or soap-free baby bath milk to clean the skin. When the symptoms of sunburn have not subsided, do not exfoliate as part of your daily skin care. Regardless of whether your skin has peeling symptoms, let the dead skin after the sunburn fall off on its own and do not use external force to remove it forcibly.

The correct way to replenish water is to use mineral spray to gently replenish moisture for the skin. However, you must wait until the skin has cooled down before spraying. Because when the skin temperature is too high, if you cool it down immediately, the temperature difference will be too drastic due to thermal expansion and contraction, and the skin will easily develop allergic symptoms and cause secondary damage. After using the spray, immediately absorb the moisture with tissue paper, cotton pads or a clean towel, otherwise excessive evaporation will take away more moisture from the skin. Because a large amount of water has been lost from the skin, you should also increase your daily water intake. Whenever you feel dry mouth, drink plenty of water (preferably boiled water, and it is best to stop drinking carbonated drinks or health vinegar on a daily basis), but be careful not to eat irritating foods such as coffee, tea, and chili.

After the skin is replenished with a large amount of moisture, you can immediately use non-irritating products to calm the skin. Gels containing natural ingredients such as aloe vera and witch hazel are most suitable for calming sun-damaged skin. If you do not have such skin care products at hand, you can use cold water or skim milk to wet compress the sunburned area; if you have vitamin E capsules at home, you can also cut the capsules open and apply the vitamin E directly to the wound, or wrap ice cubes in cloth for ice compress, which can also achieve a good calming effect.

Sunburned skin has a stronger need for breathability. Never apply nourishing oils or ointments containing grease or petroleum jelly, as these will make it impossible for the skin to breathe and cause local skin necrosis.
