The role of collagen capsules

The role of collagen capsules

Medicine is very common. There are many types of medicine, and different medicines are very helpful in treating diseases, so they are used differently. So what are the effects of collagen capsules? Many people don’t know much about such capsules, so when using them, you must be careful not to use them casually, otherwise it will cause great harm to your health.

So what are the functions of collagen capsules? The following is a detailed introduction so that you can have a good understanding of its use. When choosing, you can proceed with confidence, which is beneficial to the healthy development of your body.

Functions of collagen capsules:

1. Skin function: protection, proper elasticity

The skin can be divided into three layers: epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. The outermost layer is the epidermis, which is only 0.2 mm thick and can prevent the invasion of foreign objects. From the outside of the epidermis to the inside, there are five layers of detailed structure, namely the stratum corneum, the clear layer, the granular layer, the spinous cell layer and the basal cell layer. Because old cells in the basal cell layer will rise to the upper layers and reach the outermost layer in about two weeks, the stratum corneum will eventually become dirt and peel off.

The dermis is the layer below the epidermis, which occupies most of the structure. It is about 2 mm thick and can be divided into three layers, namely the papillary layer, the subpapillary layer and the reticular layer. Most of it is composed of protein, which is composed of collagen and elastin. The others are nerves, capillaries, sweat glands and sebaceous glands, lymphatic vessels and hair roots. 70% of the skin components are composed of collagen. The skin is like a big cover that tightly wraps around the body and has a very large surface area. When the human limbs move, the collagen in the skin functions to give the skin a protective function while also having appropriate elasticity and hardness.

The basement membrane of the epidermis is tightly combined with the collagen in the dermis, and the wavy shape of the dermis also makes the epidermis undulate accordingly. The freedom of bending of the hands and feet and the flexibility to jump high are mainly due to collagen. In the skin structure, collagen tightly wraps the hair roots, sebaceous glands and cells in the dermis. As the skin ages, it loses its elasticity, which is also mainly related to collagen.

Collagen is the main component that maintains the elasticity of skin and muscles. But as we age, the water content in our skin and muscles decreases, which is the beginning of aging. At this time, collagen fibers begin to become smaller and the elasticity of elastin decreases. The regular mesh structure formed by the interaction of collagen and elastin in the dermis will gradually disintegrate, eventually leading to the formation of wrinkles. This is why supplementing collagen can keep your skin young.

2. Bones are hard and elastic, not loose and brittle

Bones contain calcium. When the calcium in teeth is lost, it will cause dental diseases, making tooth decay and periodontal disease more likely. When calcium in bones is lost, it will lead to osteoporosis. Collagen enables calcium to bind to bone cells and prevent them from being lost.

When collagen in the bones is lost, the amount of calcium in the bones will also decrease. At this time, simply increasing calcium intake will not easily improve the phenomenon of osteoporosis, because calcium cannot be retained in the bones. Eating more calcium will also cause loss, mainly because the amount of collagen has decreased. Therefore, to maintain bone mass, you can take it from food or supplement it with collagen health foods.

The ratio of collagen to elastin in the dermis is about 45:1, while the collagen content in bones is about 20%. Collagen is the main protein component in both skin and bones. If calculated based on the total protein mass in bones, 80% is collagen. Because they contain collagen, bones and teeth are hard yet elastic.

Bones and muscles are connected to each other through collagen, and the collagen here is specifically called tendon. The main component of cartilage tissue in bones, such as knees and joints, is also collagen, which allows muscles and bones to remain soft and elastic during exercise. Generally, animal tendons and bones also contain a lot of collagen, which is called "bone collagen". Collagen and gelatin can be extracted from animal tendons and bones and can be used in medicine and industrial purposes.

3. Collagen can make the eyes transparent and the cornea remain transparent

The cornea is one of the important structures in the eye. The collagen fibers contained in it are arranged in a regular pattern. This structure not only allows light to pass through, but also because of the special arrangement of these collagen fibers, the cornea appears transparent. Since collagen is the main component protein of the cornea, contact lenses made of collagen are very suitable for the human body, which means they have a high body adaptability and better water retention than contact lenses made of other materials (Figure 7).

4. Promote muscle cell connection and make it elastic and shiny

Muscles are mainly composed of actin and myosin, while cells are bonded together by collagen, which is also one of the materials that make up the body. The three-dimensional skeleton formed by collagen molecules can keep the body in a good posture and provide appropriate flexibility.

When eating beef, there is often a harder tendon, the main component of which is collagen.

5. Protect and strengthen internal organs

The main internal organs and tissues of the human body contain collagen. Under the epidermal structure of these organs is collagen, whose greatest function is to protect and strengthen the organs, such as the stomach or intestines.

When eating pig brain or liver, they often feel unusually soft, not as hard and elastic as pig feet. The main reason is that these organs contain less collagen. Despite this, collagen remains an essential component of these organs.

Through the above introduction, we have some understanding of the effects of collagen capsules. It is very helpful for improving human skin, so such capsules are a good choice for women. However, the use of such capsules should be optimized according to women’s own needs and beneficial to the healthy development of the body.
