What is the cause of yellow qi?

What is the cause of yellow qi?

As people age, their skin will inevitably become dull and lifeless, and even turn yellow, giving people a feeling of poor complexion. In order to maintain a good complexion, many women will buy a bunch of skin care products and apply them morning and evening. In fact, just doing these "surface efforts" is far from enough, the key is to start from "internal adjustment".

Complexion is closely related to spleen function

Traditional medicine believes that a person's complexion is closely related to the functions of the internal organs, reflecting the strength and weakness of the internal organs' qi and blood as well as the location of diseases. Chang Shaoqiong analyzed that the reasons are mainly due to two factors:

First, the spleen has the physiological function of generating, absorbing and transmitting nutrients, and these nutrients are the main material basis for nourishing qi and blood. The spleen can also transport these nutrients to various parts of the body, nourish the internal organs, and transfer them upward to the head and face. Therefore, when the spleen functions well, a person's Qi and blood will be abundant, and his complexion will be rosy and lustrous.

Second, the spleen has the function of controlling the flow of blood within the vessels and preventing it from escaping from the vessels. However, when the spleen fails to function properly and blood production is insufficient, the elderly will experience symptoms such as dizziness, sallow complexion, pale lips and tongue. If the spleen cannot control the blood, subcutaneous bleeding, ecchymosis, etc. will occur. Therefore, the quality of a person's complexion is closely related to the function of the spleen.

Yellow face and poor complexion are better for nourishing the spleen than nourishing the face

Beauty and spleen health should start from many aspects

Chang Shaoqiong believes that if the elderly want to improve their complexion, they can do so through daily conditioning and health care methods such as diet, oral medication, and self-massage.

Diet

In terms of diet, it should be based on different physical conditions and vary with the climate of the four seasons. Usually, you should eat less spicy and greasy food, and eat more ingredients that can strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, such as coix seed, yam, lentils, red beans, five-fingered peach, Codonopsis pilosula, Imperata root, etc., which are all good choices.

Medication

According to syndrome differentiation, the elderly with damp-heat in the spleen have symptoms such as abdominal distension, poor appetite, yellow urine, loose stools, heavy limbs, yellow face and skin, fluctuating fever, and persistent sweating. They should take Qingrequshi Granules, Wuhua Tea, etc. to clear away heat and dampness. Elderly people with spleen deficiency and dampness often have symptoms such as sticky mouth without thirst or thirsty and prefer hot drinks, and limb fatigue. They should take Sijunzi Pills, Shenling Baizhu Pills, etc. to strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness. For those with complex symptoms, they can take Lingnan health-preserving pastes, such as the spleen-strengthening and dampness-removing paste or personalized pastes for conditioning.

Paida the spleen meridian

The Si hour from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. every day is when the spleen meridian's qi and blood are most abundant. During this period every day, the elderly can tap and massage the spleen meridian along the direction of the meridian to stimulate and mobilize the meridian qi, regulate the spleen and maintain beauty. The spleen meridian starts at the inner end of the big toe, ascends along the inner side of the dorsum of the foot, and then enters the abdomen along the inner side of the calf and thigh. Generally speaking, the inner side of the instep to the inner side of the thigh is the most suitable area for tapping.

Acupressure

At the same time, the elderly can also massage the acupoints on the Taiyin spleen meridian of the foot that have the function of strengthening the spleen and nourishing blood, such as Sanyinjiao, Xuehai, Zusanli and Tianshu.
