Bruise on eyes after double eyelid surgery

Bruise on eyes after double eyelid surgery

The pursuit of beauty is something that many girls never change. Many girls with double eyelids will undergo double eyelid surgery to make their eyes look bigger and better. Although the technology for double eyelid surgery is now more sophisticated, due to the different techniques of operators and the different physical conditions of many girls, some girls have bruises on their eyes after having double eyelid surgery.

Bruising:

When the microvessels are ruptured by external force or subcutaneous bleeding occurs, the platelets coagulate into blood clots. The blood clots change color due to the oxidation of blood iron and gradually turn into purple-black bruises. The more damaged blood vessels are, the more blood will seep out and the larger the bruise area will be. If left untreated for a long time, it may cause brown pigmentation.

1. Common conditions: The most common bruises after liposuction, double eyelid surgery, and rhinoplasty

Many plastic surgery patients will experience symptoms of bruising after surgery. Among them, liposuction has a large area of action and is very destructive to tissues; the double eyelid surgery area has dense microvessels and a thin layer of subcutaneous tissue; and rhinoplasty will affect the fragile area around the eyes. These surgeries are the most likely to cause bruising. The bruising rate for other surgeries such as cheek augmentation and breast augmentation is also similar.

Generally speaking, the extent and duration of swelling and bruising depends mostly on the site of surgery, the type of incision (open or closed), the thickness of the skin, postoperative care, individual age, skin elasticity, self-healing ability, and the doctor's skill and experience.

2. What should you do if a bruise occurs?

(1) Cold compress: Apply cold compress for 20 minutes immediately after surgery to prevent bleeding and bruising, and apply ice intermittently within 48 hours;

(2) Hot compress: Do not use hot compress in the early stage, as it may cause vasodilation and increase the severity of bruises. Hot compress can be used after two days, especially after the hyaluronic acid setting period. The temperature should not be too high, as it will accelerate the metabolism of hyaluronic acid.

(3) Apply potato slices: Potatoes are rich in starch and have a hypertonic effect. They can use the concentration difference to cause tissues to lose water, thereby relieving local swelling. At the same time, the cholestane derivative solanine in potatoes can penetrate into the subcutaneous tissue and blood vessels, accelerate blood circulation, and play a strong role in promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, reducing swelling and relieving pain. Of course, don't apply potato slices directly to open wounds.

3. Reduce swelling - apply bruise medicine

Applying the bruise medicine recommended by the doctor can help the blood that flows into the subcutaneous tissue be quickly absorbed and shorten the bruise duration.

When using bruise medicine, do not apply it directly on the wound. Apply it around the wound that is no longer bleeding. People with sensitive skin should avoid choosing bruise medicine containing salicylic acid. If it is hyaluronic acid, it is recommended not to use those ointments.

4. Don’t take anti-inflammatory drugs casually

Never take anti-inflammatory drugs casually, because they will affect the recovery of wounds and accelerate bleeding. You must take the medicine correctly under the guidance of a doctor.

5. Avoid activities that increase blood pressure

Avoid bending, lifting, exercising, and any activity that increases your blood pressure for several weeks after surgery because these activities can increase swelling and bruising.

6. Get enough sleep

Ensure adequate sleep and do not stay up late, otherwise it will aggravate the appearance of bruises.

7. Bruise hasn't faded in three months? It may be pigmentation

Postoperative bruises usually heal within 2 to 4 weeks, but if they do not fade away after more than a month, they can easily lead to pigmentation, which will take six months to a year to disappear naturally. The subsequent treatment of pigmentation after bruising will be troublesome. You should go to a professional hospital to carefully find the cause and take corresponding measures. It must be done under the guidance of a doctor:

Continue to do hot compress treatment and take vitamin C or Yunnan Baiyao orally;

Do skin-clearing laser treatment once a month, at least 3 to 4 times;

Apply whitening lotion or ointment containing fruit acid ingredients for at least half a year.
