How to get rid of chicken skin on legs

How to get rid of chicken skin on legs

Some people have patches of skin color or red bumps on their skin that look very uncomfortable and feel a bit like acne to the touch. If you squeeze it when you are free, some white stuff will come out like acne. But here I tell you that it is not acne, it is just caused by the thickening of the keratin around the hair follicles. We call it chicken skin. So how do you remove the skin on your legs? Let’s look down together.

"Chicken skin" is a physical condition caused by genes. People with this physique will have thickened keratin around the hair follicles, causing the follicle openings to be blocked by the excessive keratin, forming small bumps. In autumn and winter, the keratin of the skin thickens, and "chicken skin" becomes more serious. Some people even show symptoms of "ichthyosis" - this sounds scary, but it is actually caused by extreme dryness, which makes the skin appear uneven in color like pieces of fish scales. Many people have this symptom without knowing it. In addition, "chicken skin" is also related to vitamin A deficiency, and you can take vitamin AD pills appropriately.

"Chicken skin" is natural and cannot be "completely cured", but it can be effectively improved.

① Gentle exfoliation

Because "chicken skin" is related to the thickening of the keratin, gentle exfoliation is necessary, but it must not be excessive.

There are many ways to exfoliate. When we take a bath, we can use shower gel containing scrub particles, rub our body vigorously with a bath sponge, bath ball, etc., which can achieve the effect of exfoliation. However, washing like this every day will make the already dry "chicken skin" unbearable, and become thinner and drier, which in turn will irritate the "chicken skin" to become worse. Our skin's keratin renewal cycle is 28-45 days, so such intensive exfoliation once every 1-1.5 months is enough.

A relatively gentle way to exfoliate is to use bath salts (table salt can also exfoliate, but the sodium in it will dry out the skin. People with "chicken skin" are better off using Dead Sea bath salts which have moisturizing properties). You can take a bath with bath salts, or you can dissolve the bath salts in hot water first, then mix it with a plant-based shower gel (shower gel with more chemical agents will react chemically with the bath salts), and use it in the shower. When taking a bath with bath salts, you can also add rose and sandalwood essential oils to exfoliate and moisturize the skin.

Many people think that taking a bath every day is a good habit, but it is not good for "chicken skin". Shower gel can also remove dead skin cells to a certain extent, but it may also remove too much oil. Therefore, people with "chicken skin" only need to take a bath once every 2 or 3 days in winter, or just take a bath with clean water every day without using shower gel.

②Moisturizing is the most important

More important than exfoliation is moisturizing the skin - exfoliation is just a means.

"Chicken skin" is a skin that is very lacking in water and oil. Using ordinary body lotion will not be moisturizing enough. Instead, you should use body lotion sold in pharmacies that is specially formulated for extremely dry skin, such as Uriage Ultra-Rich Body Lotion, La Roche-Posay Body Cream, Vichy Nutritive Body Cream, etc. You should also use moisturizing cleansing products when taking a bath, such as La Roche-Posay nourishing soap, Avène soap-free moisturizing revitalizing soap, etc.

Another key point is that the water temperature for bathing must be kept at around 40℃. In winter, many people like to use hotter water, thinking that this is more comfortable. But hot water can easily "remove oil" and remove too much oil from the skin; and as soon as the body leaves the hot water, the moisture on the skin's surface will evaporate immediately, taking away the moisture from the skin as well. This is "adding insult to injury" for "chicken skin".

If you have money and time, going to a SPA to enjoy moisturizing body care is also a good way to improve "chicken skin".

③More haste, less speed

Grains of "chicken skin" will make people want to "get rid of them as soon as possible", but squeezing, scratching, and picking with hands will cause edema of the tissues around the pores, so that the pore openings become smaller and more easily clogged, causing acne and folliculitis; if scratched, it will cause inflammation and pigmentation. So don't scratch or scratch.

The above methods are some of the more useful ways to remove chicken skin on the legs. If you are in an emergency and want to show off your beautiful legs, I still recommend that you seek help from a doctor. If you want to truly improve your chicken skin, you still have to persist. No matter what season it is, you must use body lotion after taking a bath. Don't be lazy.
