Can white spots disappear on their own?

Can white spots disappear on their own?

Melanin is an essential substance in the human body. If a person lacks melanin, it is easy to cause some white spots. For example, vitiligo is a skin disease that is difficult to cure and is caused by a lack of melanin. However, the appearance of white spots on your body does not necessarily mean vitiligo, it may also be caused by other diseases. People who suffer from vitiligo have a common question: Can vitiligo disappear on its own?

Vitiligo, also known as white eczema, is a primary skin depigmentation disease. The disease can occur anywhere on the body and present as white patches. The damage can be confined to a certain part for a long time, without any subjective symptoms such as itching or pain. The disease progresses slowly and gradually increases and expands. Early symptomatic treatment is the only option. This type of skin disease is believed to be caused by the obstruction of normal pigment formation or metabolic disorders in local melanocytes. It often occurs or worsens after mental trauma, and may also be related to the autoimmune system or genetic factors.

Vitiligo is a general term for hypopigmented patches on the skin. It is not a very specific disease name. There are many diseases involving white spots. For example, amelanotic nevus can manifest as white spots, anemic nevus can also manifest as white spots, and the dot-like hypopigmented spots that appear after old age can also manifest as white spots. In addition, places with trauma or inflammation can also have post-inflammatory hypopigmented spots. The common vitiligo also manifests as white spots.

Will white spots disappear on their own?

Will the white spots disappear? It depends on the different diseases. For example, inflammatory hypopigmented spots can disappear on their own in most cases. However, achromatic nevus and anemic nevus generally do not disappear on their own. Small areas of vitiligo may disappear on their own. Most vitiligo needs treatment to be well controlled or cured.

From the above we can also understand that leukoplakia also involves many kinds of diseases, such as anemic nevus, post-inflammatory hypopigmentation, and some non-pigmented nevus, etc. Some white spots can disappear on their own, but some will not disappear on their own. Some treatments are needed to control the white spots and slowly eliminate the marks.
