Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the causes of acne are: the face, nose, chest and back belong to the lungs, and the disease is often caused by wind-heat in the lung meridian blocking the skin; or due to overeating of fatty, greasy, and spicy foods, heat accumulation in the spleen and stomach, endogenous dampness and heat, fumigating the face; or due to the youthful body, blood and energy, rising yang heat, fighting against wind and cold, blocking the skin.

Moxibustion is used to treat facial acne. The acupoints used are: Quchi, Hegu, Feishu, Zusanli, Dazhui, Sanyinjiao, etc., which are mainly used to regulate the liver meridian and lung meridian. Because liver fire can easily rush up and cause acne, and the lungs are related to the skin, moxibustion on the above acupoints will have a therapeutic effect on this problem.

(1) Moxibustion with suspended moxa sticks: Select 3-4 acupoints each time and moxibustion each acupoint for 10-15 minutes each time. Once every other day or once a day. 7-10 times constitutes a course of treatment.

(2) Moxibustion with moxa cones: Rub the moxa cones into the size of wheat grains and place them on the acupuncture points for moxibustion. Apply 4 to 5 moxibustions to 2 to 3 acupuncture points at a time. Apply moxibustion once every 2-3 days.
