6 Tips to Prevent Adverse Reactions to Cosmetics

6 Tips to Prevent Adverse Reactions to Cosmetics

From time to time, people say that they feel uncomfortable after using XX product. In fact, most of these situations can be avoided by following the suggestions below.

1. Theoretically, there is no absolutely safe cosmetics, except for water, you must keep this concept in mind.

The safety mentioned here refers to the absence of adverse reactions or consequences. Allergies and irritations can be classified as adverse reactions, at least not the reactions we expect. This has nothing to do with whether the product is good or bad, whether it contains heavy metals, whether it is expensive, or whether it is imported. Some girls often say, "I have never had an allergic reaction before, so why would I have an allergic reaction after using this?" This is actually a very normal phenomenon.

2. Before using any new product, you should do an allergy test

The test is usually done on the curved side of the forearm, but the skin on the face is less sensitive than on the body, so under or behind the ear would be a better choice. Observe for 24 to 72 hours without washing it off to see if there are any uncomfortable reactions, such as redness, swelling, pain, rash, etc. If not, you can use it;

3. If any adverse reaction occurs after using cosmetics, use should be stopped immediately unless the reaction is a normal rebound that is known in advance. You should not regard adverse reactions as detoxification, or "insist on using it" because you feel sorry for spending money.

4. Normal rebound often occurs in:

1) Hormone-dependent dermatitis: After stopping the use of hormone-containing products and using normal, hormone-free products, the skin condition will deteriorate sharply (the focus at this time is to moisturize and prevent irritation); similar situations may also occur during skin fasting.

2) Papular skin caused by infection (including folliculitis, acne vulgaris, and Malassezia folliculitis), which can cause acne breakouts after using some products or methods (such as photodynamic therapy). The criteria for distinguishing whether acne is developing in an adverse direction or is normal is: whether there is both swelling and shrinking, or only swelling without shrinking, or whether there is a sharp deterioration in the type of only swelling without shrinking. Therefore, it is extremely important to take photos before use and take photos again after use for comparison.

5. Be wary of any product that claims to be quick-acting, especially those that remove spots or whiten your skin.

Because the skin has its own growth rules, these rules cannot be changed arbitrarily. Quick-acting products often add banned ingredients to achieve their effects, which are harmful to the skin, and these effects are likely to be accompanied by very difficult to deal with side effects. Prohibited ingredients usually include: aminomercuric chloride, dexamethasone, etc.

6. Determine whether transient sexual stimulation is harmful

If certain products cause transient irritation that does not disappear within a short period of time and has a cumulative effect, they should be discontinued. For example, if you use a certain water, your face will sting and be a little red on the first day, but it won’t go away. If you use it on the second day, it will still sting and be even redder... If you insist on continuing to use it, then you have done something wrong (please read it out loud, with a long voice). At this time, you should consider whether your skin condition is too low in tolerance, fragile and sensitive, whether you need to take measures to calm or repair it, or whether you need to change the method of use (for example, applying water with a cotton pad may cause stinging, while using your hands or spraying it will not), time, and frequency.
