, especially young people, but some pigmented skin diseases appear on the face. The two most common ones are melasma and freckles. Let’s first talk about melasma, also commonly known as “butterfly spots”. Many women develop brown pigmentation spots on both sides of their cheeks during pregnancy. These spots are painless and itchy, and most of them disappear within six months to a year after delivery. In addition to pregnant women, some unmarried girls and even a very small number of young men also have this chloasma on their faces, which becomes more obvious the more they are exposed to the sun.

This disease not only affects appearance, but also causes mental burden to some young people. The occurrence of melasma is related to endocrine activity. It most commonly occurs during pregnancy but can also occur during amenorrhea and in women with dysmenorrhea, menstrual irregularities, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, or ovarian disease. A small number of people may also develop chloasma if they take birth control pills for a long time, but it will disappear after stopping the medication. Chronic liver disease, indigestion, constipation, anemia, etc. may all be causative factors of this disease. However, there are also some patients whose causes are unknown. To cure melasma, we must first start by examining the cause. If you suffer from the above diseases, you should seek timely treatment and ask a doctor to assist in examination and treatment if necessary. Patients should try to avoid prolonged sun exposure. In the summer, it is best to wear a sun hat or apply some sun-protective cosmetics when working or doing activities outdoors.

You can also take larger doses of vitamin C orally, three times a day, 200 to 300 mg each time. Topical use of 3% to 5% hydroquinone ointment or its combination with corticosteroid ointment has a certain effect. Let’s talk about freckles. Freckles are dot-like pigmented spots on the face. They are light brown in color and are usually the size of a needle tip to a grain of rice, or even larger, but they never form a continuous patch. Freckles begin to appear at the age of seven or eight, increase in number and become more obvious during puberty, and the pigmentation will deepen further after sun exposure. A small number of people may have these small pigmented spots on the back of their hands, forearms, and chest in addition to their faces. This disease does not have any symptoms, but it affects one's appearance and many patients are very distressed. Freckles are a very common facial pigmented skin disease. A survey of more than 500 male and female college students found that 18.7% had freckles, with more females than males. This disease may be inherited in an autosomal dominant manner and be related to congenital factors.

The above is about the formation of spots and some simple methods to remove them. I hope it will be helpful to all female friends who have spots. In addition, you must pay more attention to facial cleansing in daily life to reduce the formation of spots.
