Can freckles be removed?

Everyone wants their skin to be shiny and smooth, but some people have many freckles on their faces. These freckles are of different sizes, and the edges form two completely different colors when in contact with the skin. The gray-brown spots make people look very old, and freckle-like moles also appear together with freckles. How should this be treated in normal times?

Freckle-like nevus is called black spot or black nevus in ancient Chinese medical books. It can be distributed in any part of the skin, as well as the junction of the skin and mucous membranes or the conjunctiva of the eyes, appearing as brown or dark brown spots, some of which are slightly raised and round, generally about the size of a needle tip to a sesame seed. There may be slight desquamation on the surface of the spots, but the fine skin texture is not changed. Pigmentation is uniform and consistent, gradually fading to normal skin color at the edges.

Freckles mostly occur in childhood, but they may gradually increase in number until adulthood. Some may suddenly appear diffusely in large numbers, while others may gradually decrease and disappear over the years. There are also generalized lentigo and midface lentigo, which are special types of lentigo.

The difference between freckles and freckles is that lentigos are darker in color than freckles, are more sparsely distributed and dispersed, and do not darken in color or increase in number after sun exposure. Freckles are closely related to sun exposure, and their distribution is limited to sun-exposed areas. In summer, due to increased sun exposure, the number of freckles increases, the color darkens, and the damage becomes larger. On the contrary, in winter, the number of freckles decreases, the color becomes lighter, and the damage is reduced.

Freckles are a common pigmentation disease and are sometimes one of the clinical manifestations of certain hereditary syndromes. There is no special and effective treatment method. If the patient requests treatment, it can be surgically removed. Although freckles are related to genetics, they are closely related to sun exposure. Reducing sun exposure and using sunscreens and sunscreens will reduce the occurrence of freckles.

The occurrence of lentigo is related to genetics. If treated with oral and topical medications, the effect is extremely unsatisfactory. Some people use physical and chemical methods to remove lentigo, but they have not been promoted due to poor results. Whether physical methods can cure lentigo depends on its tissue pathology.

We all know that the skin is divided into three parts: epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. If the skin damage is limited to the epidermis, it will heal through cell division and proliferation, and will not leave any scars after healing. However, if the dermis is damaged, it will heal through connective tissue proliferation, but scars will be left after healing.

The lesions of lentigo occur at the junction of the epidermis and dermis. Using various physical and chemical methods to remove lentigo will inevitably damage the dermis and may leave scars. If only the melanin in the epidermis is removed, the melanocytes in the superficial layer of the dermis will remain in the skin and will continue to proliferate over time and appear on the skin surface again. Therefore, physical and chemical methods of treating sunspots are not worth promoting and popularizing.

At present, there are the following methods for treating sunspots by physical and chemical methods:

1. Surgical resection;

2. Liquid nitrogen freezing;

3. Electrolysis or laser ablation.
