Disadvantages of willow-leaf prosthetic rhinoplasty

Disadvantages of willow-leaf prosthetic rhinoplasty

Love of beauty is human nature, and many women undergo rhinoplasty surgery in pursuit of a high nose bridge. There are many types of surgeries in clinical practice, and different types of surgeries produce different surgical results. Willow-leaf prosthetic rhinoplasty is also one of the rhinoplasty surgeries, and there are certain risks in the operation, so be careful to avoid them. So what are the specific disadvantages of willow-leaf-shaped prosthetic rhinoplasty?

1. Disadvantages

Willow-leaf-shaped prostheses are mainly suitable for people with a decent nose tip shape and a relatively low nose bridge. The willow-leaf-shaped prosthesis can only simply raise the bridge of the nose and has no help for the tip of the nose. The disadvantage is that it is easy to move, and the prosthesis without legs is not stable in the nose over time.

2. The willow-leaf prosthesis is shorter and has no corners

The willow-leaf prosthesis is shorter than the L-shaped prosthesis and has an I-shaped shape. The willow-leaf prosthesis is located two-thirds of the way up the nasal dorsum, from the root of the nose to the upper area of the nose tip. The willow-leaf-shaped prosthesis does not act on the tip of the nose. The tip of the nose is made of autologous cartilage, so the willow-leaf-shaped prosthesis does not touch the tip of the nose, which can reduce the occurrence of capsular contracture and prevent the prosthesis from penetrating. In fact, the willow leaf is also L-shaped, but the willow leaf is made by cutting off the legs of the L and then repairing it into a willow leaf-shaped prosthesis.

3. Willow-leaf prosthesis combined with cartilage is safer

In terms of rhinoplasty effect, the L-shaped prosthesis acts on the root of the nose, the dorsum of the nose, and the tip of the nose. There are certain commonalities between the three, and the effect is acceptable in the short term. The rhinoplasty effect of the willow-leaf prosthesis only acts on the area from the root of the nose to the upper tip of the nose. It has no force on the tip of the nose, that is, it has no commonality, and even if capsular contracture occurs, it will not affect the tip of the nose. Usually, experienced doctors will use willow-leaf-shaped expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (EPP) materials in combination with autologous cartilage, which can achieve the overall shaping effect of the nose while taking into account the safety of rhinoplasty.
