What are the types of double eyelids?

For many girls with single eyelids, if they want to have double eyelids through plastic surgery, they should know what types of double eyelids there are. Which type of double eyelids is more suitable for your appearance? Generally speaking, the types of double eyelids mainly include fan-shaped double eyelids, middle double eyelids that are narrow in front and wide in the back, and parallel double eyelids. There are three main surgical methods for double eyelid plastic surgery, and the buried suture method is the most common.

What are the types of double eyelids?

1. Fan-shaped double eyelids

Fan-shaped double eyelids Features of fan-shaped double eyelids: Fan-shaped type is also called wide-tail type. The double eyelid line is hidden in the inner corner of the eye and starts to widen from the middle part. People are born with slight epicanthus. This type of double eyelids is more gentle, more natural, classical and oriental.

2. Parallel double eyelids

Parallel double eyelids have the following characteristics: the double eyelids are obvious in shape, the double eyelid line is basically parallel to the upper eyelid margin, and the inner and outer widths are basically the same. This type of eyes is dignified and majestic, and is more common in Westerners. If the epicanthus is obvious, an inner canthus opening surgery must be performed at the same time to achieve this effect.

3. Middle type double eyelids, narrow in front and wide in the back

Features: This type of double eyelid line is basically the same as the parallel type, but it is narrow inside and wide outside, and looks similar to the fan-shaped type from a distance; this type of double eyelid is natural and not exaggerated, and is suitable for people with no epicanthus, longer eyes, and thinner and tighter eyelids.

There are several ways to have double eyelids

(1) Buried suture method: This method uses sutures to form an artificial connection between the superficial tarsal levator aponeurosis and the subcutaneous tissue. When the eyelid is lifted, a double eyelid is formed. The advantages of this method are simple operation, no wounds, no need to cover the eyes after the operation, and no need to remove stitches. The patient can go back to work immediately after the operation, and the double eyelid folds are natural. If the operation fails for beginners or the patient is not satisfied with the results, the operation can be redone using the original method or by switching to the suture method. The disadvantage is that the double eyelids may disappear. The thread-trimming method is suitable for people with hidden double eyelids and single eyelids with thin skin and little fat. (2) Suture method: This method is to compress the skin and tarsal plate by tying sutures, so that strip-like scar adhesions are formed at the sutures, causing double eyelids. The stitches are usually removed 7 days after surgery. The skill of this method lies mainly in tying the sutures. The tightness should be moderate, so that the eyelashes can be slightly curled up. If it is too loose, the adhesion will not be strong and the double eyelids may disappear. If it is too tight, the skin will easily form wrinkles, which looks unnatural. This method is suitable for people with normal eyelids or thin eyelids, and those with no or only slight sagging of the upper eyelid skin. (3) Incision and suture: This is a method that requires surgery. Before the operation, the height of the double eyelid should be carefully designed, and the upper eyelid skin crease line and the upper limit of the skin to be removed should be marked. Then the incision is made along the pre-designed double eyelid line to remove excess loose skin and fat, and finally interrupted sutures are made with 5/0 silk sutures, which are removed 7 days after the operation. The characteristics of this method are that the double eyelid wrinkles are deeper, clearer and last longer; the disadvantage is that patients are more or less afraid of surgery, worrying that if it fails, they will end up with "scarred eyes". This method is suitable for people with loose upper eyelid skin, thick upper eyelid skin, and excessive subcutaneous fat in the upper eyelid, commonly known as "blister eyes".
