Top 10 DIY Skin Care Products

Skin care is a fun and easy way to enhance your ordinary beauty routine. If you want to go to the spa every week, apply facial masks and body scrubs, it can be an expensive expense. A variety of raw materials for beauty may be hidden in your kitchen. You can use them to make cheap, healthy and effective skin care products.

1. Baking soda

Baking soda is an amazing substance that has many uses, from cleaning the house to making skin care products. Baking soda is saturated with oils which neutralize acids, making it perfect for those with oily skin. After washing your face, massage a small amount of baking soda into your skin for a deep cleansing effect. You can even use this skincare product anywhere on your body, but just follow up with a good moisturizer.

2. Avocado

Avocado, also known as shea butter, can provide great deep moisturizing effect on both skin and hair. Mash the ripe pulp in a bowl and add a spoonful of raw honey. Mix well and apply on your face, taking care to avoid the eye area. Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing to revitalize your facial skin. You can also use the same mixture as a hair conditioning treatment.

3. Olive Oil

Olive oil has been used as a beauty product for centuries. Olive oil soap is a natural, non-toxic alternative to traditional soaps that contain skin irritants such as sodium lauryl sulfate. Olive oil soap can be purchased from pharmacies. You can make a unique Dead Sea salt body scrub at home, all you need is Dead Sea salt, olive oil, and a drop of essential oil to turn everything into a thick paste. Use them to massage into damp skin to remove dead skin cells.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is the most common ingredient in skin care products. Vinegar acts as a natural astringent to tighten your pores. Add a few drops of vinegar to a clean cotton ball and rub it on cleansed skin. You can also dip a clean cotton cloth in vinegar and rub it directly on the pimple to reduce swelling and infection.

5. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is the granddaddy of all healing plants. You can buy relatively cheap aloe vera gel from health food stores, but it's cheaper and more effective to grow your own aloe vera. Cut a piece of aloe vera leaf and extract the clean soothing gel from the aloe vera leaf. Apply directly to burns, cuts, insect bites, and broken skin areas for a healing and restorative effect. You also apply aloe vera gel to your face as a deeply hydrating mask for 15 minutes.

6. Honey

Honey is a great ingredient in homemade face masks. It can also be used alone to heal dry skin. Apply a generous amount of organic raw honey to your face, then lie back and let it penetrate deep into your skin. Alternatively, you can make a facial scrub by mashing a ripe banana with a tablespoon of honey and a cup of oatmeal.

7. Cucumber

Applying cucumber slices to your eyes is an old but very effective way to heal tired and sore eyes. Cucumber can naturally soothe and calm red, irritated skin. Peel half a cucumber and roughly chop the flesh. Put it in a blender and add a teaspoon of olive oil, a tablespoon of aloe vera and a few mint leaves. Blend until creamy and apply to skin as a soothing mask.

8. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has become the new beauty must-have and it has countless uses. One of the simplest and most effective skin care tips is to slather on coconut oil right after you bath or shower. It also doubles as an effective eye makeup remover. Its natural antibacterial properties also make it an effective treatment for mosquito bites. Try heating a little coconut oil in the microwave to create a tropical-scented massage oil.

9. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is an effective natural exfoliant that can be used in body scrubs, facial masks, and exfoliators. It can soothe irritated or itchy skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. Adding a cup of oatmeal to your bath water can soothe itchy skin. Or you can make an exfoliating scrub with 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon honey, and 3-4 tablespoons olive oil.

10. Banana

Overripe bananas are not only rich in antioxidants, but also contain a substance called tumor necrosis factor, which can effectively fight cancer cells. Mashed bananas are a fantastic addition to face masks and hair sprays. Banana peels can also be useful. Scrape the inner layer of a banana peel and apply it to your skin to remove dirt, bacteria, and oil from your pores. You can also rub the banana peel on your teeth for effective whitening.

Not only are natural skin care products good for your skin and save you money, but they are also more effective than store-bought beauty products. Learning how to make beauty and cosmetic products, such as soap, shampoo and body wash, is a life skill worth taking the time to learn and will benefit you for the rest of your life. There are many online tutorials that tell you how to make your own makeup at home, or you can even attend a seminar on the subject, which can be very effective.
