What are the harms of sulfur to the skin?

In daily life, sulfur soap is used for washing hands and clothes and has a bactericidal effect. Medically speaking, it can relieve cough, resolve phlegm, reduce inflammation and relieve diarrhea. However, you must pay attention to the concentration when using sulfur, otherwise it will be harmful to the skin. So what harm does sulfur do to the skin? If it exceeds the standard, it will not only pollute the air but also be highly corrosive to the skin.

If too much sulfur is placed in the house, it will cause harm to the body. When the concentration of this substance in the air reaches a certain level, human inhalation will cause poisoning because it contains sulfur, a strong acid. Therefore, please open the windows for ventilation. The smell should be related to paint, or plastic rubber. Sulfur is also an important material for making plastic rubber.

Hazards of sulfur:

Sulfur combines with oxygen to form sulfur dioxide, which turns into sulfurous acid when it comes into contact with water. When sulfurous acid enters food, it not only destroys the vitamin B1 in the food, but also causes calcium to form insoluble substances, affecting the body's absorption of calcium. Free sulfurous acid can also irritate the human gastrointestinal tract. If industrial sulfur is used to fumigate food, more serious poisoning may occur after consumption.

Because processors are exposed to more sulfur, they are more likely to be poisoned and the poisoning will be more serious. In mild cases, symptoms include red eyes, eye pain, tearing, insomnia, etc. In severe cases, reflex glottal spasm may occur, manifested as decreased speaking ability, difficulty swallowing, shortness of breath, etc.

The sulfur fumigation method neither meets the processing safety requirements nor the hygiene and safety requirements of the food industry. However, there are indeed some sulfur-fumigated foods on the market that have both implementation standard numbers and health license numbers. It is difficult for consumers to distinguish them just from the appearance.
