Does sunscreen prevent tanning or sunburn?

In recent years, all major online platforms have been talking about the importance of sun protection, mainly by comparing the skin of people who wear sun protection and those who don’t. The results are shocking, so many people choose sun protection. However, physical sun protection is very troublesome, so I chose to use chemical sun protection such as sunscreen. However, many people do not know the sun protection principle of sunscreen. Today I will introduce to you whether sunscreen prevents tanning or sunburn?

Sunscreen can prevent both tanning and sunburn.

It’s just that different sunscreens have different effects and strengths. The SPF value marked on the sunscreen is for sun protection against sunburn, while the PA value is for sun protection against tanning.

SPF stands for the duration of sun protection, while PA stands for the effectiveness of anti-tanning! Look at the index, which varies from 15, 30, 50 to 90. Generally, physical sunscreens can be made at 50 and 90, and the effects are very good. Of course, if the index of chemical sunscreen is this high, it will be harmful.

To determine whether the sunscreen is physical or chemical, look at the instructions and color of the sunscreen. Most chemical ones are white, while physical ones are yellow and have covering power! pa+ means effective in preventing blackening, pa++ is very effective in preventing blackening, pa+++ is extremely effective in preventing blackening.

Additional information:

Sunscreen refers to cosmetics that contain sunscreen agents that can block or absorb ultraviolet rays to prevent the skin from tanning or sunburn. According to the principle of sun protection, sunscreen can be divided into physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen.

Sunscreen products with different SPF or PA values need to be selected according to the specific target to achieve the purpose of sun protection. Sunscreen works by shielding the skin from UV rays. The main difference between sunscreen lotion and sunscreen lies in their physical properties. Creams generally have a water content of about 60%, and look relatively "thick", like a paste; while emulsions have a water content of more than 70%, and look relatively thin and fluid.

Generally speaking, lotions are lighter than creams because they contain a higher water content, but formulators can still use different oily ingredients and thickeners to adjust the "greasiness" of the cream. So, we still need to look at the product itself.
