What is the formula of sunscreen?

Now that summer is coming again, the sales of sunscreen products are booming again. There is no way, who makes people nowadays so obsessed with beauty? Under the scorching ultraviolet rays, sun protection has become a task that must be done. Moreover, many girls have delicate skin. Once they are sunburned, it is probably not just a matter of being sad. They will not be able to recover for a long time. So what is the formula of the sunscreen we usually use?

Sunscreen ingredients are usually divided into two types: chemical (containing UV absorbers) and physical (containing UV scatterers).

Chemical sunscreen ingredients (including UV absorbers)

It is usually absorbed by skin tissue and metabolized by the body. Specifically, it refers to allowing the chemical components in sunscreen to enter the skin's keratin. After being absorbed by the skin, they interact with ultraviolet rays and convert them into harmless energy, so they are called ultraviolet absorbers. Because a chemical reaction occurs on the skin, it will cause some irritation to the skin.

◎OMC (octyl methoxycinnamic acid): the most widely used chemical sunscreen ingredient. It can block UVB and is not likely to cause allergic reactions.

◎Octocrylene: A newer chemical sunscreen ingredient that can block UVB.

◎OCS (octyl-salicylic acid): It is a very weak UVB blocker, so it is usually used together with other UVB sunscreen ingredients to enhance the sunscreen effect.

◎PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid): can block UVB. It was once widely used, but is now rarely used because of the high rate of allergic reactions. Later, Padimate-O (octyl-dimethyl-para-aminobenzoic acid) was developed as a substitute, which is less irritating and can only block UVB.

◎Oxybenzone (benzophenone-3): can block UVA and sometimes cause allergies.

◎Avobenzone (Paso 1789): can block UVA and is often used in combination with Oxybenzone (benzophenone-3). Sometimes it can cause allergies.

◎Mexoryl SX: can block UVA with shorter wavelength.

Summary: From the above ingredients, we can know that chemical sunscreen contains a large amount of UV absorbers, and the SPF index is proportional to the amount of UV absorbers contained. The higher the index, the greater the amount and the greater the chance of causing skin sensitivity.
