The twitching of eye bags is actually the twitching of eyelids. This phenomenon is called eyelid tremor. That is to say, there is a relatively thin muscle in the eyelid, which will repeatedly contract, causing this phenomenon. There are many causes. Generally, poor rest, lack of sleep, or great psychological pressure may cause such a phenomenon. Of course, some eye diseases, myopia, astigmatism, and keratitis may also cause such symptoms. What causes eye bags to twitch? (1) Overuse of eyes and physical discomfort. When the eyes are overused or the body is unwell, the eye muscles will twitch involuntarily, causing "eye twitching". This twitching is often caused by the increased tension of the nerve fibers that control the eye muscles locally. The "eye twitching" caused by this reason is often sporadic, once or two or three times a day, a few times each time, and lasts for one to two seconds. Generally, no medication is required, and the symptoms will be alleviated or disappear after proper rest. (2) Eye inflammation. Sometimes, in addition to eye twitching, there may be symptoms such as eye irritation and red eyes. This is caused by eye inflammation, such as conjunctivitis and trachoma. After treatment with rifampicin eye drops, ofloxacin and other drugs, the symptoms will disappear. (3) The nerve fibers that control the eye muscles are stimulated or compressed by inflammation. This situation is relatively rare. At this time, each eye twitch will last for a few seconds. The condition tends to worsen in stages, recurs repeatedly, or is easily induced by tension. You need to go to the hospital for examination. Causes and common diseases There are many causes of eyelid twitching, the main ones being: 1. Physical discomfort Due to lack of rest and sleep, or due to excessive smoking and drinking, irregular menstruation, etc. People with anemia may also experience eyelid twitching. 2. Disease (1) Eye diseases: such as trichiasis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, foreign bodies in the eye, etc. These diseases act on the nerve endings, so the symptoms caused are often limited to twitching of the upper or lower eyelid on one side. (2) Neurological diseases: such as tumor compressing nerves or peripheral nervous system lesions. 3. Common diseases and typical symptoms (1) Narcolepsy: irregular breathing, hallucinations, anxiety, fatigue, drowsiness, sleep apnea, accompanied by involuntary movements such as head and eyelid tremors, facial spasms, etc. (2) Fixed strabismus: esotropia A sign, esotropia V sign, eye infection, fundus abnormality, eyelid nystagmus, eye infection, etc. |
