How to distinguish between combination skin and oily skin

Combination skin and oily skin are very similar, whether in terms of symptoms or some skin conditions. Whether it is combination skin or oily skin, you need to clean it first, and then you can proceed with moisturizing, whitening, anti-wrinkle, and firming steps. Next, let’s talk about the difference between combination skin and oily skin, and how to distinguish other skin types.

Skin types can be divided into the following categories: dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, combination skin, and sensitive skin.

Dry skin: The skin is delicate and thin, with less and even sebum secretion without any greasy feeling. When the seasons change, the skin becomes dry and peels. When stimulated, the skin becomes red and even burns. It is easy to form wrinkles and spots. It is not prone to acne and is prone to wrinkles due to aging, especially in front of the eyes and corners of the mouth.

Oily skin: The face is often shiny, with large pores and high sebum secretion, especially on the face and T-zone. The skin is rough and prone to acne and pimples. However, oily skin is less prone to wrinkles and can better withstand external stimuli.

Normal skin: The skin feels delicate and elastic, neither dry nor greasy, and is shiny. It has fine pores and a moderate amount of oil and moisture. It looks rosy, smooth, flawless and elastic. It is not very sensitive to external stimuli and is less likely to wrinkle. It's an enviable skin quality.

Combination skin: Combination skin is skin with two different properties at the same time. The most common one is a mixture of dry skin and oily skin, with oily T-zone and dry or neutral cheeks.

Sensitive skin: The skin is thin, naturally fragile and lacks elasticity. When the seasons change or when exposed to cold or heat, the skin becomes red and prone to small papules, causing skin allergies, redness, swelling, itching, etc.

The above are the methods to distinguish various skin types. If you still don’t know how to distinguish them. You can use oil-absorbing paper to distinguish. Place the oil-absorbing paper on various positions on your face half an hour after cleansing. If there are more oil spots on the oil-absorbing paper in the T-zone, then it is combination skin. If there are many oil spots in various parts of the skin, it means you have oily skin and you should pay attention to moisturizing and oil control.
