Five Misconceptions About Sun Protection

Five Misconceptions About Sun Protection

Everyone knows the importance of sun protection for women, but if the sun protection is not done properly, the purpose of protection may be counterproductive! Therefore, before using sunscreen products, be careful not to fall into the following misunderstandings. The editor of Popular Health Network reminds that women who love beauty only need to use sunscreen products on exposed parts.

Misconception 1: Too much or too little dosage

If you use the wrong amount of sunscreen, you won't get the protection you expect for your skin. Experts recommend using a dollar-sized amount on the face and two shot glasses-sized amount on the body. If you use too much, the residue from the sunscreen can also harm your skin. If you're going to be outdoors for a long time, apply sunscreen to all parts of your body before going out, rather than just to exposed areas.

Myth 2: You don’t need sunscreen on cloudy days

Wear sunscreen whether the sun is out or not. Even on cloudy days, the damage caused by ultraviolet rays is still there.

Myth 3: High SPF value provides longer sun protection

Products with a high SPF value are thought to provide longer-lasting protection from the sun. In fact, regardless of the SPF, you should reapply sunscreen every 90 minutes.

Myth 4: Sunscreen only needs to target UVA rays

Only sunscreen products that can block both UVA and UVB rays can provide comprehensive protection.

Myth 5: Only your face and body need sun protection

Don't think that your scalp won't be hurt just because your hair is thick. If you're heading outdoors, experts recommend spraying your head with sunscreen or wearing a hat. Also, remember to apply sunscreen on the soles of your feet before putting on your sandals.
