It’s better to wash your face than to squeeze pimples. 10 tips for skin care for acne-prone skin

Busy work and stressful life are affecting the body's metabolism, causing acne to visit regardless of seasons, which has probably broken the hearts of girls with oily or combination skin for many times. If you want acne to no longer camp on your face, you must pay more attention to daily skin care, take strict precautions, and control your diet and emotions, so that your face can be as shiny as before and restored to its flawless and transparent state.

Rule 1: Keep clean

Although makeup can cover up breakouts, it can also trap free radicals that damage the skin. Therefore, you must remember to remove makeup after applying it, and it is best to clean your face with a cleanser containing 2% salicylic acid every morning and evening and after exercising. In addition, try to reduce exfoliation during the growth period of acne, otherwise the broken skin acne will easily cause infection.

Rule 2: Stick to basic maintenance

Ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid have been clinically proven to be effective against acne, so make full use of them and be patient, as they take six weeks to work. If your acne hasn't cleared up after 6 weeks, then these ingredients aren't working for you. At this point you'll need to seek help from a dermatologist; perhaps only prescription products or in-office treatments can make your face glow like new.

Rule 3: Try retinoic acid

Retinoic acid is not only used to treat wrinkles, it is also useful for fading spots, remodeling collagen and preventing acne (assuming it is used correctly). At bedtime, you can apply tretinoin instead of acne cream. Squeeze a pea-sized amount onto your fingertips and apply all over your face. This will help renew facial cells and speed up acne recovery.

Rule 4: Take sun protection measures

Acne-fighting products can make your skin more vulnerable to UV damage, so be sure to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. The product ingredients should not contain ingredients that can clog pores.

Rule 5: Sufficient hydration

Healthy skin has a balance of water and oil. Many people with oily skin are prone to acne on their faces because their skin is dehydrated and the pores are forced to secrete too much oil. Therefore, adequate hydration can also reduce acne caused by excessive oil secretion and clogging of pores.

Rule 6: Don’t squeeze pimples

Yes, we all know it’s hard not to squeeze, but try to resist the temptation. Squeezing pimples will only cause inflammation, scarring, and even cause more acne. If you're still itching to do it, it's recommended that you find something to do to keep your hands busy.

Rule 7: If you still squeeze pimples

Well, now that the matter has been settled, we have to find a way to remedy it. After squeezing a pimple, first disinfect the area with a product containing 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, then apply salicylic acid to help unclog pores and speed up skin repair.

Rule 8: Seek treatment as soon as possible

Topical treatments may only reduce the life of a pimple by one to two days, but the real purpose is to achieve clear skin. Early intervention is a key step. Acne needs to be prevented. For acne-prone skin, even if you don’t have acne on your face now, you still need to apply acne-removing products on your entire face.

Rule 9: Do not over-treat

Overuse of acne products can dry out your skin and sometimes even cause chemical burns. Just apply a thin layer of acne cream (as directed by the instructions) and don't overdo it. Then, follow with an oil-free moisturizer.

Rule 10: Lighten scars

Just because a pimple disappears doesn’t mean it’s gone completely, as many pimples leave scars. How to lighten scars? Apply salicylic acid and licorice root extract on the scars, and the scars will gradually fade over time.
