Collagen skin care products

I believe everyone has heard about collagen skin care a long time ago. The most popular one was about S and S. It is said that many female artists, including foreign stars, are almost crazy about this skin care product. On the market, eye patches, facial masks, skin care products and other products are all using the concept of collagen to enhance their product value.

It is said that collagen moisturizes and hydrates the skin immediately. In recent years, collagen skin care products have topped the beauty rankings and are highly recommended by top beauticians. So what exactly is this magical collagen? What magical effects do the skin care products containing collagen sold on the market have? Let’s study it.

Glossary: collagen

Collagen is a biological macromolecule and the main component of animal connective tissue. It is also the most abundant and widely distributed functional protein in mammals, accounting for 25% to 30% of the total protein. It is closely related to the formation and maturation of tissues, the transmission of information between cells, joint lubrication, wound healing, calcification, blood coagulation and aging. Collagen is also one of the most critical raw materials in the biotechnology industry and is widely used in medical materials, cosmetics, food industry, etc.

The Origin of Collagen Skincare

As we age, the synthetic capacity of fibroblasts decreases. If the skin lacks collagen, the collagen fibers will cross-link and solidify, reducing the amount of mucopolysaccharides between cells. The skin will then lose its softness, elasticity and luster and age. At the same time, the fibers in the dermis will break, the fat will atrophy, and the secretion of sweat glands and sebaceous glands will decrease, causing a series of aging phenomena such as pigmentation and wrinkles to appear on the skin. When it is used as an active substance in cosmetics, the latter can diffuse into the deep layers of the skin. The tyrosine it contains competes with the tyrosine in the skin and combines with the catalytic center of tyrosinase, thereby inhibiting the production of melanin, enhancing the activity of collagen in the skin, maintaining the moisture of the stratum corneum and the integrity of the fiber structure, promoting the metabolism of skin tissue, and having a good moisturizing, anti-wrinkle and beauty effect on the skin. As early as the early 1970s, the United States was the first to launch injectable bovine collagen for removing spots, wrinkles and repairing scars.

However, in cosmetics, if it is used simply as a nutritional skin care ingredient, the molecular weight is usually required to be below 2KD so that the hydrolyzed collagen can penetrate into the skin. Hair care cosmetics require hydrolyzed collagen to have not only moisturizing properties but also certain film-forming properties. Therefore, the molecular weight requirement for hydrolyzed collagen is higher.

It seems that collagen is the best gift from God to human beings. Since collagen is good for skin, bones and wound healing, can we get collagen from food?

It is understood that collagen can be used as food, such as animal drum sticks and cartilage soup, which is beneficial for joint recovery. But it is far less effective than collagen skin care products.

The collagen skin care products currently sold in the market are not limited to tubes, creams, liquids, tablets and other forms, but also powders that can be taken directly orally, and can be directly added to soups or water for drinking. It can be said that they are available in various forms, which makes life more convenient for those who love beauty. If you want to keep your skin youthful, try skin care products containing collagen and see if it makes your skin plump and hydrated.
