Hair tangles may also be caused by using inappropriate shampoos, washing hair roughly and unscientifically, drying wet hair too vigorously with a towel, and blow-drying hair too much and too hard.

Excessive sun exposure can easily cause the moisture and protein in the hair to be lost, making the hair inelastic and prone to tangling, breaking and splitting.
