What to do if you are prone to acne in winter

What to do if you are prone to acne in winter

There are many reasons that cause acne, such as irregular work and rest schedules or problems with diet, etc., which may lead to acne. So why is acne so common in winter? What should we do? First, we can buy some acne-removing skin care products and use them for a period of time to see if there is any improvement. If not, we should take other methods to solve the problem.

For simple seasonal dry and itchy skin, as long as the above maintenance principles are followed, the problem of skin itching can be greatly improved or even eliminated.

In fact, the most important thing to do for dry and itchy skin caused by seasonal changes is to prevent it. The key to preventing dry and itchy skin is to keep the skin moisturized, reduce the loss of water and oil in the stratum corneum, and protect the sebum function. It is suggested that we start from the following aspects:

1) When bathing, you should choose a mild, preferably slightly acidic shower gel, and avoid using alkaline soaps with overly strong cleaning power, because even the most neutral shower gel is alkaline relative to human skin. You should also avoid bathing in water that is too hot. It is best to use water that is similar to body temperature (no more than 40 degrees).

Also, you should reduce the frequency of bathing and shorten the bathing time to avoid excessive loss of water and fat due to heat. Do not scrub hard when taking a bath, because overheated water and vigorous scrubbing will wash away the skin's sebum, keratin and other protective layers, which can easily damage the skin and even cause local inflammation of the skin, making the nerves more excited and aggravating the itching.

2) After showering, apply moisturizing body lotion immediately before the skin is completely dry, especially to particularly dry areas such as the limbs. This can help the skin restore its water and oil balance and form a thin film on the skin to prevent moisture evaporation. Also, because the pores are still slightly open right after a shower, skin care products are easier to absorb and penetrate. After applying skin care lotion, you should put on clothes and socks as soon as possible. This will not only keep you warm but also prevent the epidermis from losing moisture and sebum, helping to enhance the effect of improving dry skin conditions. After the skin is effectively moisturized, dryness and itching can be effectively reduced.

If you feel your skin is dry, you should use lotion at any time to moisturize the dry skin in time. The focus should be on the calves and arms. The front tibia of the calves is the part with the least sebaceous glands in the whole body, so it is most prone to itching and dandruff. The arms are often exposed to the air and are also most prone to dryness.

3) Reduce the frequency of using exfoliating products to avoid damaging the skin's protective film due to excessive exfoliation. Skin care products should also be adjusted and updated in time with the change of seasons. If your current skin care products make your skin feel tingling, or even red and itchy after use, it is time to change them immediately. You should choose a low-irritation, highly moisturizing skin care lotion/cream with enhanced moisturizing function. It is recommended to use a moisturizing cream or cream-like lotion containing moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and collagen to lock in moisture.

Many people think that it is easy to get acne in winter. In fact, no matter in any season, as long as our lifestyle is unhealthy, it will cause acne. In order to prevent the occurrence of acne, we'd better adjust our work and rest time and have a fixed sleep time. Over time, the acne on the face will disappear.
