Eight mistakes that ruin your refreshing summer makeup

Eight mistakes that ruin your refreshing summer makeup

In the hot summer, sweat and sebum can easily cause makeup to fade. If you still stack all the makeup steps one by one, it will not only make your makeup look exquisite, but also make your makeup irreparable after a long time. So how should you apply refreshing makeup in summer?

1. The base makeup should not be too thick

Many women apply thick foundation to hide imperfections, but this only dries out the skin further and accentuates the creases of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, thick powder creates a mask-like feel and detracts from your natural beauty. Therefore, a light foundation is suitable for daily makeup and should only be used on areas with uneven skin tone. Before applying foundation on oily skin, it is best to use oil-absorbing facial paper, otherwise chalk-like marks will be left on your face. Oil-free skin care and makeup products are recommended for oily skin.

2. Draw exaggerated eyebrows

Not every girl is born with two thick eyebrows. However, this doesn't mean you have to pick up the darkest eyebrow pencil and aggressively fill in your brows. The focus should be on the outer half of the eyebrow (from the arch to the end of the eyebrow). People with dark hair should use an eyebrow pencil one shade lighter, while those with blonde hair should use an eyebrow pencil one shade darker. Next, use an eyebrow brush to comb your brows at an upward 45-degree angle and apply a brow-defining gel.

3. Using the wrong concealer or highlighter

Trying to cover blemishes only creates them, drawing attention to the areas you were trying to conceal. When buying concealer, try the color on the back of your hand first. If the color is lighter than your hand, it will also be whiter than your face. Generally speaking, orange concealer works best and is suitable for all skin tones and can effectively cover dark circles.

How to use: Apply concealer under the eye, blending from the outer edge of the eye to the inner corner. When applying foundation, pay attention to whether the connection is natural, and finally apply a layer of yellow-based setting powder to fix the makeup.

4. Using Inappropriate Shadow Techniques

When applying shadows, focus on the outer contours of the face: start behind the ears and move towards the chin. Lightly sweep across the forehead (close to the hairline), bridge of the nose, cheeks and tip of the chin. To prevent your face from looking too "dirty" or too "muddy," finish with a large blush brush on the apples of your cheeks and highlight on the tops of your cheekbones.

5. Too much blush

Blush is a great way to enhance your complexion, but using too much can make people think you're a little "crazy." Apply blush according to your skin tone. Olive skin is suitable for dark blush, light skin is suitable for pink blush, and dark skin is suitable for purple or red blush. Blush should be applied from the apples of the face towards the temples, making sure it blends completely into your skin tone. When used correctly, blush can brighten your complexion and make you look years younger.

6. Ignore the primer

The function of primer is to smooth the skin, absorb the oil on the face, and make the foundation adhere better. If you don't apply it, depending on your skin condition, you may end up with makeup coming off or having oily skin. Keep makeup touch-up products in your bag: oil-absorbing facial tissue to keep you fresh at all times.

7. Using foundation that doesn’t match your skin tone

The ultimate goal of using foundation is to make it automatically invisible, leaving others to guess whether you have applied powder to have such a good skin tone. Here's a pro tip: Test foundation by applying it along your jawline; if it blends with your skin tone, it's the right foundation for you. On the contrary, colors that are too dark or too light can easily cause color difference between the face and neck.

8. Apply foundation on dry, flaky skin

No matter how moist and creamy your foundation is, it won't cover up dry skin and will only make you look drier, older and more tired. To prevent your skin from peeling, it’s best to exfoliate regularly and apply moisturizer morning and night. Keep the habit of using primer before applying makeup.
