Will double eyelids sag when you get older?

Double eyelids are also called blepharoplasty. Through double eyelid surgery, not only the eyes look bright, but also the eyes are more emotional and charming. Therefore, double eyelid plastic surgery is very popular. But many people are afraid that double eyelids may have side effects, such as sagging when they get older. The editor will explain this problem to you below.

The sagging upper eyelid is generally caused by excessive fat in the upper eyelid. The drooping upper eyelid will make people look listless. Lido experts said that it is more common in the elderly and may cause "squinting eyes", "triangular eyes", "splayed eyes" and other shapes. Some upper eyelids sag and block part of the palpebral fissure, affecting the field of vision, while others press the eyelashes down and irritate the cornea.

Treatment

Regardless of the cause of sagging upper eyelids, surgical correction is required. The surgery can be performed while removing eyelid wrinkles and performing blepharoplasty. Patients with bulging of tear glands and orbital fat should also undergo surgery at the same time. Upper eyelid surgery should not be performed simultaneously with lower eyelid surgery to avoid affecting the blood supply to the skin at the same time. After forehead and temporal wrinkle removal surgery, a period of recovery is required before surgery can be performed depending on the condition of the upper and lower eyelids. To prevent the scar from being too obvious after surgery and affecting the cosmetic appearance, the incision for removing loose eyelid skin wrinkles should be as parallel to the skin texture as possible.

Simple blepharoplasty

Double eyelid surgery is performed while removing excess loose skin. This method was often used in the past, resulting in long swelling time and slow recovery, and the double eyelids would only become natural after half a year. At present, it is rarely used by middle-aged and elderly people.

Eyelid margin incision is not suitable for double eyelid surgery

It is mainly for the elderly who do not want the changes to be too obvious and do not require double eyelids. They can simply remove excess skin through an incision at the upper eyelid margin.

Eyebrow lift and eyebrow surgery

Eyebrow lift or eyebrow surgery can be performed to lift the loose upper eyelid skin and improve symptoms. According to the distance between the patient's eyebrows and eyes, choose the incision at the middle of the eyebrow, the upper edge of the eyebrow, or the lower edge of the eyebrow. If combined with forehead and temporal rhytidectomy, the symptoms of aging can be better improved.
