We often say that "eyes are the windows to the soul", and fairies pay special attention to this "window to the soul". From cosmetic contact lenses to eye shadow and eyeliner, every item is carefully checked and never ambiguous, but some people are upset because of their natural single eyelids. General aesthetics tend to favor double eyelids, as double eyelids make their eyes appear deeper. In comparison, single eyelids do not have this advantage. Although many girls with single eyelids desire double eyelids and want to get them through surgery, do you know that not everyone is suitable for double eyelid surgery? Blepharoplasty is commonly known as "double eyelid surgery". From an aesthetic point of view, the appearance of the upper eyelid with double eyelids makes people's eyes brighter and more flexible, their appearance more handsome, delicate, charming, more emotionally expressive and revealing bright eyes. Single eyelids often give people a feeling of monotony, bloated and lack of vitality. In order to change this deficiency, the method of surgical creation of double eyelids was born. At present, it is also one of the plastic surgeries with the largest clinical volume. Which is more beautiful, single eyelid or double eyelid? In our country, the incidence of monolids is 40%. Note that it is “incidence” rather than “morbidity”. In other words, single eyelids are not a disease, so which one is more beautiful, single eyelids or double eyelids? This question is actually difficult to answer. Some single eyelids are indeed very distinctive, and they are coordinated with the person themselves, and are also quite beautiful and energetic. Famous ones like Sandy Lam and Elva Hsiao both have single eyelids. However, whether in ancient times or modern times, descriptions of beauties mostly focus on double eyelids. From an aesthetic point of view, double eyelids are more vivid and three-dimensional than single eyelids. The eye cleft of double eyelids is wide and long, with rich layers, and the black part of the eye (cornea) is more exposed, making it look particularly energetic. The eyelids of single eyelids are narrow and short, and the eyelashes are often covered by sagging skin, making the eyes look smaller than they actually are. If a person with single eyelids also has epicanthus and excessive fat on the upper eyelid, it will give people a dull or even short-sighted feeling. Blepharoplasty is a technique that can enhance the beauty of one’s “window to the soul”. “Everyone desires beauty”, so there is nothing wrong with having double eyelid surgery. There are indications and contraindications for double eyelid surgery Although blepharoplasty can make some people more beautiful, it is not suitable for some groups of people: those who are mentally ill or have psychological disorders, lack of recognition of their own conditions, and blindly pursue unrealistic blepharoplasty; patients with bleeding tendencies and hypertension symptoms, as well as active and progressive diseases of important organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys, uncontrolled diabetes, and infectious diseases are not suitable for blepharoplasty; those with congenital amblyopia, acute or chronic infections in the inner or outer eyes, and around the eyes that have not been controlled and healed are not suitable for blepharoplasty; those with facial paralysis and incomplete palpebral fissure closure are not suitable for blepharoplasty; those with protruding eyeballs, sunken eyeballs, or retracted eyelids due to various reasons are not suitable for blepharoplasty; those whose family members strongly oppose are not suitable for blepharoplasty; those with ptosis are not suitable for blepharoplasty. So who is suitable for blepharoplasty? Single eyelids who are in good health, mentally normal, actively request surgery and have no contraindications are suitable for double eyelid surgery; single eyelids with bloated upper eyelids (commonly known as blister eyes) are suitable for double eyelid surgery; single eyelids with epicanthus are suitable for double eyelid surgery; mild entropion and trichiasis are suitable for double eyelid surgery; mild ptosis (combined with levator palpebrae superioris muscle shortening surgery) is suitable for double eyelid surgery; loose and sagging upper eyelid skin that affects vision (more common in the elderly) is suitable for double eyelid surgery; one single eye or one double eyelid, the single eyelid side can be operated on or the two eyes have different widths of folds and different sizes of palpebral fissures are suitable for double eyelid surgery; double eyelids and hidden double eyelids that are not obvious when the eyes are open are suitable for double eyelid surgery. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Precautions For incisional blepharoplasty, swelling begins on the first day after surgery, reaches a peak on the second day, and begins to subside on the third day. The local blood circulation and lymphatic return will vary depending on individual constitution. Generally, there is a little swelling after the stitches are removed five days later, but it is not too obvious. One month will be more natural. The swelling completely subsides in 1 to 3 months. Six months to one year after treatment, the scars will completely disappear, and finally beautiful double eyelids will be formed. If you undergo buried suture blepharoplasty, the recovery time will be shorter because there is no need to remove the stitches. The swelling will go away within three days after the operation, and you can put on makeup in a week at most. Special attention should be paid after blepharoplasty. Topical antibiotic eye drops should be used, and antibiotics should be taken orally or intramuscularly for 7 days. The surgical site should be kept clean and water should be avoided as much as possible within 7 days after the operation. If there are blood scabs or secretions on the wound, they can be wiped with sterile saline or medical alcohol. To prevent bleeding, congestion or hematoma of the wound, an ice pack with a soft towel can be used for appropriate pressure ice compress after the operation. After three days, a hot towel can be used for hot compress, which is conducive to reducing eye swelling. In terms of diet, the protein intake should be increased, and more fruits and fresh vegetables should be eaten. Avoid eating irritating foods such as peppers. It is generally recommended to use a higher pillow when sleeping at night after surgery. It is good for the blood and lymph return of the eyes. It is recommended to do normal eye movements with eyes closed on the second day after the operation. If it is the buried thread method, be careful not to rub your eyes to avoid the thread knot falling off and failing to form a double eyelid crease. |
