What is the bone reduction surgery process like?

In order to have a perfect face or improve facial defects, many people choose to use bone cutting surgery to slim their face. However, this plastic surgery method actually has some side effects, so you can't do it blindly.

1. Preoperative communication. The surgeon expresses the area they wish to reduce and the degree to which they wish to achieve it. Doctors will usually take X-rays or even MRIs of the patient before surgery in order to clearly understand his or her bone structure. Doctors will then make recommendations and determine the method of surgery based on individual characteristics.

2. Anesthesia. The distribution of facial nerves is very regular. Based on anatomical principles, I mainly use tissue plus local anesthesia technology. This can effectively avoid the anesthetic risks brought by other anesthesia methods and ensure the successful operation.

3. Incision. Bone-cutting and face-slimming surgery is performed through a small incision inside the mouth, which can reduce damage and avoid leaving any marks on the surface. An incision is made inside the mouth near the mandibular angle or zygomatic bone, and the entire facial skin and muscles are turned over from the inside of the mouth. When separation is performed under the periosteum, the bone area that needs surgery is exposed and the surgery is then performed. The incision is made inside the mouth, and there is a layer of muscle between the instruments and the nerves during the operation, which can increase safety and there will be no trace of incision after the operation.

4. Stop bleeding. There is almost no bleeding when separation is performed under the periosteum, and there is no damage to blood vessels and nerves. If bone cutting surgery is chosen, bone wax should be applied to the wound after the bone is removed. It can not only stop bleeding, but also help the bone recover itself.

5. Surgery. During the operation, the fallen bone components must be rinsed clean with saline, because these powders stick to the incision surface, and when the muscles return to their original position, they will adhere to the bones and continue to survive and grow.

6. Treatment of masticatory muscles. After the operation, due to the changes in the bone supporting structure of the masticatory muscles, I will treat them according to the hypertrophy of the masticatory muscles of the surgeon. If the bone is too enlarged, some muscles can be removed from the back to adapt to the new bone structure. If the bone is not too enlarged, no additional adjustments are needed because the muscles themselves will atrophy after the operation.

7. Suture drainage. A drainage tube is placed while the wound is sutured to remove blood stasis. The drainage tube can usually be removed the next day after the operation.

8. Apply appropriate pressure bandage. Bandaging the face for five days can not only stop bleeding but also help reshape the face.
